Curtin’s Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Finance) can be completed in two years in Singapore, so graduates can be out in the market applying their knowledge faster than most of their peers. Curtin Singapore is located in the banking and finance centre of South-East Asia, Singapore, making it the perfect place for students to immerse themselves in the world of international finance, banking and business.
Banking is integral to business, governments and the lives of everyday people. Good bankers use analytical knowledge and skills to help customers find financial solutions. They may arrange finance for them at a personal level so they can start a new venture, or assist them with expanding an existing business.
In this major you will learn about financial markets and institutions. You will study developments and management in the financial sector and will build a working knowledge of the Australian banking and financial system with a broad perspective of the environment of business.
You will learn about:
- bank lending
- international trade
- banking law
- banking practice and management.
Studying in the field of finance can open the door to a range of careers nationally and internationally. Careers in finance can include working in corporate finance, working for financial institutions, the financial services industry or working in financial markets in Australia and overseas.
This major gives you a broad understanding of corporate and investment finance. You will learn about:
- investment evaluation
- how to fund activities
- the roles played by financial markets and instruments
- structure and operations of financial markets
- financial securities that trade in financial markets.
The course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to make productive contributions to your employers early in your career. You will understand the relevant issues in the financial sector and develop the skills required to keep up with and understand new developments in the field after you graduate.
Students examine real banking institutions through assessments and case studies – so you’ll learn from today’s corporate environment, ready to implement what you have learnt when you graduate.
This course can help you become a/an Bank Officer, Financial Dealer and Broker, Financial Dealer's Assistant, Credit Analyst, Financial Planner, Investment Banker, Finance Manager, Insurance Broker.
