Curtin Leaders Program

The Curtin Leaders Program combines leadership skills modules with volunteering, to help you learn more about yourself, how you work in a team and how you can effect positive change in your community.


  • Increase your employability — you will be awarded with a Curtin Extra Certificate upon completion.
  • Expand your network — enhance your social and interpersonal skills and build lasting relationships with like-minded people.
  • Be happier — boost your wellbeing through volunteering.
  • Make a positive impact — be a catalyst for change in your community.

How to complete

  1. Complete 5 out of 11 online leadership modules.
  2. Register in the program of your choice.
  3. Regularly participate and update your Volunteer Hours Log.
  4. Upon completion of at least 10 volunteer hours, submit the original Volunteer Hours Log to Curtin Singapore Career Centre via Student Central.
  5. Once your Volunteer Hours Log is verified and approved, complete the final online log and reflection.


Curtin Volunteers!

Be a catalyst for positive change when you participate in various student events and activities.

Please note that certain volunteer hours spent with the Student Clubs, Student Committee and Curtin Community Service Club (CCSC), can be accepted as volunteer hours under Curtin Volunteers!

In this program, you will learn to:

  • Demonstrate sought-after employability skills such as self-management, teamwork and organisation through commitment to tasks and exercising initiative during volunteering activities
  • Enhance your communication and relationship building skills through engagement in conversations and co-operation with people from different backgrounds.

You are eligible if:

  • You are a Curtin University student.

Curtin University Alumni Singapore Chapter Volunteers

Be mentored by the committee of the Curtin University Alumni Singapore Chapter (CUASC) and engage in alumni management and various alumni events.

In this program, you will learn to:

  • Effectively hone your interpersonal communication skills as you connect and build rapport with stakeholders and people of various backgrounds on multiple platforms
  • Enhance your creativity and apply your acquired knowledge through content creation such as e-newsletters, electronic direct mailers, print, website and social media content
  • Develop your team-building and efficiency skills by applying basic strategies such as establishing goals, allocating roles, executing action plans, and reviewing outcomes to complete project and event management tasks
  • Utilise appropriate technologies to manage the alumni database and the Curtin Connect Card membership system.

You are eligible if:

  •  You are a Curtin University student.

Student Mentors

As an experienced and successful Curtin student, you will be linked to new students during their first trimester at Curtin Singapore as a student mentor.

In this program, you will learn to:

  • Evaluate, integrate and apply appropriate information through experiential learning, by familiarising new students with institutional systems, identifying resources, key personnel and processes
  • Foster and develop strong interpersonal bonds and a sense of community with new students through school activities.

You are eligible if:

  • You are a Curtin University student in your second trimester onwards and not in your last trimester
  • Your Course Weighted Average (CWA) is above 60.

Academic Mentors

As an academic mentor, you will have scored commendable results in your previous trimesters and will inspire and mentor students in need of academic assistance.

In this program, you will learn to:

  • Identify areas in which mentees require additional help with understanding theories and practices
  • Evaluate existing practices and theories and formulate innovative solutions to teach your mentees
  • Recognise key theories and trends related to your respective discipline
  • Establish detailed goals and construct an action plan to be implemented effectively
  • Practice effective communication skills as you present and explain complex concepts while inspiring your mentee.

You are eligible if:

  • You are Curtin University student in your second trimester onwards
  • Your Course Weighted Average (CWA) is above 70
  • Your unit grade for the unit you would like to mentor is above 70.
