Curtin Singapore provides assistance to international students to find suitable and comfortable accommodation whilst studying at Curtin Singapore. There are several accommodation options available, ranging from public Housing Development Board (HDB) flats to private apartments and hostels.
Once confirmed, an agreement between the student and landlord will need to be signed and the required deposit and rental fees must be paid. Agreements are binding and students are strongly advised to read through and understand the agreement carefully. Please be aware that breaking the agreement before its expiry date may incur additional costs.
Property rental is where you rent an entire property, and there are furnished or unfurnished options. This is ideal if you arrive in Singapore and are willing to share with friends or other students. The general costs involved include a refundable deposit of one month’s rent, plus one month’s rental upfront and the equivalent of one/half month towards an agent’s commission.
Cost: S$2,600 to S$5,000 for 1-3 bedroom units
Room rental is where you take a room at a property where other people already live. You may be living with students, families or others who live nearby and have a spare room. Your room may be furnished or unfurnished, and may or may not include expenses such as electricity. You can choose to have your own room or share your room with another person.
Cost: Single room S$800 to S$1,800 or shared room S$600 to S$900
Note: There is a good range of accommodation near the campus, ranging from new and luxurious homes to older and more basic housing.
